Understanding Board Confidence: How Not to Get Sacked

Understanding Board Confidence: How Not to Get Sacked

    The Board Confidence System

In World League Manager, your job is never safe. The board evaluates your performance across five key metrics, and if their overall confidence drops too low, you're out.

    The Five Factors

    1. Fan Confidence (50% weight) The biggest factor. Fans react to results — win and they love you, lose and they turn. A string of defeats will crater your fan confidence faster than anything else. This is why picking the right [starter club](/blog/best-starter-clubs) matters — a club with lower expectations gives you breathing room.

    2. Dressing Room Confidence (20% weight) This reflects squad morale. It's affected by team talks, playing time distribution, and results. Keep your players happy and they'll fight for you.

    3. Financial Confidence (10% weight) The board cares about money. Overspend on [transfers](/blog/how-the-transfer-market-works), blow the wage budget, and this metric drops. Sell a player for a good profit and it rises.

    4. Media Relations (10% weight) How you handle the press matters. Media interviews after matches give you opportunities to boost (or damage) your media relations score.

    5. Coaching Confidence (10% weight) Linked to your [tactical setup](/blog/tactical-blueprints-explained) and training preparation. This tends to be the most stable metric.

    The Weighted Score

Your overall board confidence is calculated as:

    Board = (Fans × 0.50) + (Dressing Room × 0.20) + (Finance × 0.10) + (Media × 0.10) + (Coaching × 0.10)

    The Danger Zone

When your board confidence drops below 30%, you enter the danger zone. A warning banner appears: "Your position is under review." Continue to underperform and you'll be sacked — and your managerial career takes a hit.

    Prestige Matters

Here's the twist: the expectations scale with your club's prestige. Managing Manchester City? The board expects titles. Managing Crawley Town? They're happy with mid-table stability. Choose your club wisely — our promotion guide explains how the league pyramid works.

    Recovery Tips

    • Win matches. Nothing fixes confidence like results. Make the most of your daily match routine.
    • Handle media well. Post-match interviews are opportunities.
    • Balance the books. Don't overspend on transfers.
    • Keep morale high. Rotate your squad and give team talks.

The board is always watching. But understanding what they care about gives you the edge to survive — and thrive. This is what sets WLM apart from fantasy football — real consequences for real decisions.
